How Many Dudes? Consumables Guide

Use Bottled Lightning, Burner Phone, Dude Juice, Health Potion, Meteor, Pocket Dice, and Strange Spores at the moment each changes a run.

Consumables let the player intervene directly in How Many Dudes? instead of waiting for the autobattle to resolve. The official Dudex currently lists seven: Bottled Lightning, Burner Phone, Dude Juice, Health Potion, Meteor, Pocket Dice, and Strange Spores. Their value depends on timing, target selection, and the loss they prevent.

Exact counts and percentages below reflect the official entries checked on 2026-08-01. Read the live tooltip before a decisive use because balance values can change even when the item’s role remains recognizable.

Interrupt danger with Bottled Lightning or Meteor

Bottled Lightning currently deals damage among random enemies and Stuns them for one second, with damage that increases each round. Random distribution makes it strongest when many possible hits are useful or when any brief interruption can stop an incoming sequence. It is less reliable as a precision answer to one named target.

Meteor targets a chosen location, damages enemies there, and scales its damage by round. Dudes struck are Thrown but unharmed under the current Dudex text. That makes placement meaningful: it can disrupt an enemy cluster, but it can also move friendly Dudes away from a healer, tank, target, or adjacency effect.

Use either before the dangerous action completes, not after the first knockout starts a cascade. Watch wind-up, target path, and clustering. Save the item if the current roster already has the control window and will need the intervention for a boss or later wave.

Reposition and shield with Burner Phone

Burner Phone teleports a selected group of Dudes to a chosen location and grants Temporary Health equal to 25% of their Max HP until depleted in the current definition. It solves two problems at once: unsafe position and insufficient immediate health margin.

Move vulnerable Dudes away from concentrated danger, or move damage dealers back into reach of a priority target. Include the protector or support unit when the receiving location would otherwise split the team. The best destination restores the intended formation rather than merely maximizing distance.

The Temporary Health can justify using Burner Phone even when movement is secondary, but check for positional costs. A roster-order Ability still reads roster order, while battlefield adjacency and nearby targeting can change after the teleport.

Convert healing into preemptive protection

Health Potion currently heals half of the roster Dudes for 50% of Max HP, prioritizing the most injured; Overhealing becomes Temporary Health. This means a Potion can be used before everyone is visibly low when the next event threatens a one-shot.

Target priority is automatic, so inspect who is currently injured. If the Dude who needs protection is not among the likely recipients, another intervention may be more reliable. Max-HP differences also change the absolute value delivered to each Type.

Relics can modify consumable outcomes. The developer guide mentions Pumpkin Latte adding a temporary Toughness benefit after Health Potion use. Verify the current Relic text and duration before timing the Potion around that interaction.

Equalize a lopsided roster with Strange Spores

Strange Spores cause roster Dudes to Equalize HP every second for three seconds in the current Dudex. Equalization is useful when some members have a large health reserve and others are near danger. It redistributes the relationship; it is not simply a flat heal applied independently to everyone.

Use it while healthier Dudes still have enough HP to support the weak ones. If the entire roster is already low, redistribution cannot create a large reserve by itself. Pair the window with Healing when possible so the shared state rises rather than only moving damage around.

The developer guide notes that Fairy Ring can add a Healing boost during the Spores duration. Treat that as a specific Relic interaction and confirm the current text. The item remains useful without it when the team’s Max-HP spread makes equalization favorable.

Decide when an unconscious Dude needs Juice

Dude Juice currently revives unconscious Dudes. The Dudex distinguishes Ranch use, which revives ten, from battle use, which revives five with full HP. Those are current values, not a reason to consume it automatically after every loss.

The official guide says Dudes recover on their own after a few rounds and recommends saving cash when the remaining roster can continue winning. Pay for an accelerated return when playing short-handed is likely to cause another knockout or the missing Type owns an essential damage, protection, healing, or movement job.

During battle, consider whether the revived group can survive the remaining threat. A full-HP return is valuable only if the formation and defensive plan can catch them. Between rounds, compare the Juice with preserving cash for Relics that prevent the same failure from recurring.

Spend Pocket Dice on a defined miss

Pocket Dice currently reroll Relics and Trinkets in Stashes, Flyers, and Merchant Dude inventory. They are option-control tools, not direct combat power. Define why the current offer is unusable before rerolling.

A Dice use has high value when every current result misses an essential job and the team still has cash to buy a better result. It has low value when the roster cannot explain what it wants or when a good new offer would be unaffordable.

Collections and metaprogression are associated with Pocket Dice in official announcements, but exact current unlock benchmarks should come from the live client. Do not import Demo-era numbers into a Full Release route.

Build a small emergency kit

Classify the run’s greatest risks: fatal burst, positional collapse, crowd pressure, lopsided HP, unconscious roster members, or a failed shop. Carry consumables that answer the likely risks rather than one of every name.

Before a boss, assign each held item a trigger condition. For example: Burner Phone when the damage core loses access; Health Potion before the known burst; Lightning when a stun can interrupt a dangerous group. A condition prevents panic uses that do not change the outcome.

After the run, record unused items as well as successful ones. An item held until defeat may reveal poor timing; an item never relevant may reveal a purchasing mistake. Convert that evidence into a leaner kit and a larger Relic or Business Dude budget next time.
