The official Steam Store publishes one minimum configuration for the How Many Dudes? base game, AppID 3934270. It requires a 64-bit processor and operating system, Windows 10 or 11, a 2.0 GHz processor, 2 GB RAM, graphics with 512 MB video memory, DirectX 11, and 500 MB available storage.
Those are the current Store minimums checked on 2026-08-01. They are not a promise that every late-run battle, overlay combination, display mode, or background workload will perform identically at the floor.
Verify the exact Steam product
Open the Library entry and confirm the base game AppID is 3934270. The Demo, Supporter Pack, Soundtrack, bundles, and non-Steam platform releases are different scopes. A requirement or troubleshooting result from one should not silently replace the base-game Store listing.
The base Store names Butterscotch Shenanigans as developer and publisher and marks the game released on July 30, 2026. If a search result still describes a Demo release candidate, use the canonical Store instead.
Record the Steam client channel and installation drive when asking for help. The AppID and product type are more reliable identifiers than a shortcut name or copied folder label.
Interpret the operating-system requirement narrowly
Windows 10 and Windows 11 are the native operating systems listed. The requirement also explicitly calls for 64-bit processor and OS support. A 32-bit Windows installation is outside the published minimum even if the CPU itself is capable of 64-bit operation.
The Store does not publish native macOS or Linux requirements. Steam Deck has a separate developer compatibility announcement involving Steam Input and touchscreen use; that does not establish a native Linux build.
Do not apply a Windows 11-only workaround on Windows 10 merely because both systems are listed for the game. The July 31 Smart App Control advisory is specifically a Windows 11 security path. Other launch failures should remain on reversible triage and official support.
Check processor, memory and graphics evidence
The minimum processor line is 2.0 GHz, but clock speed alone does not describe every CPU’s behavior. Record the full processor model rather than reporting only GHz. Keep enough system memory free that the listed 2 GB game minimum is not competing with many heavy background applications.
The graphics line requires 512 MB video memory and DirectX 11. Record the GPU model, dedicated or shared memory context, and driver version. Use the official GPU or Windows update channel for drivers; avoid third-party driver bundles.
If the game launches but slows later, note the mode, round, roster scale, display mode, resolution and whether the issue recurs at the same event. A performance report needs the workload, not just confirmation that the opening menu meets minimums.
Leave storage headroom beyond the listed 500 MB
The Store lists 500 MB available space for installation. Steam can need additional temporary room while downloading, verifying or replacing files, and Windows itself needs operating headroom. Do not plan to leave the drive exactly at the advertised game size.
Use Steam’s installed-file verification when a download completed but the game reports missing or damaged content. Verification is reversible and keeps the product in its official state. Do not replace executables or DLLs with downloads from an unaffiliated fix site.
If the installation drive reports errors or repeatedly loses files, preserve save and sync evidence before reinstalling. The Store lists Steam Cloud, but cloud support does not make every local deletion safe or guarantee which copy wins a conflict.
Establish a clean support baseline
Restart Windows and Steam, complete trusted pending updates, and verify installed files. Launch once with optional overlays or capture tools closed, then restore them one at a time if the game works. Change only one display setting between tests.
Record exact error text, time, Windows edition and build, CPU, RAM, GPU, driver and whether the application opened a window. For a crash after play begins, add the menu, mode, round and last action. This separates a requirement problem from a specific compatibility or game-state issue.
Avoid broad antivirus exclusions, disabled firewalls, registry edits, and unsigned replacement files. If Windows names a security feature, follow the current Microsoft documentation and the dated official developer notice for that exact symptom.
Distinguish minimum support from device compatibility
A computer can meet the listed numbers and still encounter a driver, overlay, display, security or save-sync conflict. Conversely, a device not described by the native requirement may run through a compatibility layer without becoming an officially native platform.
Steam Deck belongs in the second category. The developer announced an official Steam Input profile and touchscreen path, while the base Store continues to publish Windows native requirements. Report Deck issues with SteamOS, compatibility and input-layout context rather than as Windows requirement failures.
For virtual machines, compatibility layers, handheld Windows devices, or remote environments, state the environment explicitly. The Store’s numeric floor cannot prove that every intermediary supports DirectX, input or storage behavior correctly.
Recheck before quoting the table
Store requirements can change after release. Link the canonical AppID and include the date when publishing a hardware recommendation. This page does not invent a recommended tier because the official Store currently exposes the minimum block used here.
Keep performance advice separate from requirements. A personal configuration that runs well is useful anecdotal evidence, not a new official minimum. The exact Store table remains the authority until Butterscotch Shenanigans or Valve publishes a revision.
